Information About Direct Deposit for Landlords

Get the Direct Deposit Authorization Form

UHA is pleased to announce that, starting April 2013, monthly Housing Assistance Payments (HAP) for the Housing Choice Voucher Program (Section 8) are available via the Direct Deposit automatic transfer of funds, and monthly HAP statements will be provided online.

With Direct Deposit your HAP payments will be automatically deposited into your account, eliminating the wait for a paper check through the mail and saving you a trip to the bank.  Additionally, the statements for your HAP payments will be provided online through HAPCheck, an enhanced service that provides secure 24/7 access to your HAP information online and will allow you to view and print statements up to 18 months old, saving time and paper.

In January, a Direct Deposit Authorization Form was mailed to each property owner and manager currently participating in UHA's Section 8 program.  If you need a new authorization form, you can download one by clicking the yellow button near the top of this page.

Please note that the last paper checks and statements for monthly HAP will be issued July 2013.  Please complete and return your Direct Deposit Authorization Form as soon as possible to allow UHA time to set up your Direct Deposit and online account.  Paper checks for monthly HAP will not be issued after July 2013.

Frequently Asked Questions About Direct Deposit and HAPCheck

Q.     What is Direct Deposit and HAPCheck?

A.     Direct Deposit is the automatic transfer of monthly Housing Assistance Payments (HAP) into your designated banking account.  HAPCheck is a secure online service for you to review and print your monthly HAP statements.

Q.     When is UHA switching to Direct Deposit and HAPCheck?

A.     UHA will begin using the Direct Deposit and HAPCheck service in April 2013 for those landlords that are ready and have signed up.  Paper checks and statements will continue to be mailed out to landlords that have not signed up until July 1, 2013.  After July 1, Direct Deposit and HAPCheck will be the only method UHA will use to process monthly HAP payments.

Q.     What are the benefits of switching to Direct Deposit and HAPCheck?

A.     With Direct Deposit your HAP payments will be automatically deposited into your account, eliminating the wait for a paper check through the mail and saving you a trip to the bank.  HAPCheck will provide secure 24/7 access to your account online and will allow you to view and print statements up to 18 months old, saving time and paper.

Q.     What do I need to do?

A.     Complete a Direct Deposit Authorization Form and return in to UHA.  Be sure to include a voided check for the bank account that you want your HAP payments deposited to.  This will expedite processing and ensure that your HAP is deposited on time.

Q.     What if I don't have a banking account?

A.     If you don't have a banking account you will need to open one, complete a Direct Deposit Authorization Form, and return it to UHA before July 1, 2013, so your monthly HAP payment is not interrupted.

Q.     Who do I contact if I have more questions about Direct Deposit and HAPCheck?

A.     For questions or additional information about Direct Deposit or HAPCheck, please contact Kristie Niebergall, Accounting Specialist, at (909) 982-2649 extension 110.
